Description:
Lucy, bored to death with being a housewife, declares she's going out and getting a job. After hiring Ethel to babysit, Lucy heads for Manhattan, after reading an ad in Variety for a "Girl Friday" position in Paul Douglas's new Early Bird TV show. However, her wild ploys to get rid of the other applicants infuriate Douglas, who promptly declares Lucy will never get the job. Right then, however, his sponsor walks in, and is impressed with Lucy's "everyday housewife" credentials. He gives her the job, to Douglas' dismay. Lucy is a hit, in fact, and her different style endears her to the audience, and she is immediatley signed to a contract with the breakfast-food sponsor. Lucy soon finds, however, that she does not enjoy never seeing Big or Little Ricky, and begins to miss her everyday way of life. Douglas graciously agrees to let her out of her contract, and she goes home, ready to be content with being a homemaker. But the sponsor won't budge. Lucy, however, doesn't know that the sponsor hasn't agreed and takes a sleeping pill to make sure she doesn't wake up at her usual 4A.M. time. Can Paul and Ricky get Lucy up in time to make the show...? |
