Description:

Music by Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins? Yet another Genesis tune from The Album. I tried to get as close to the studio recording as I could but some of the strummed chords might be different from what Mike plays. The tuning I used from top to bottom is Eb-Ab-Db-G-Bb-Eb (or you can tune G string a semitone up to G# on standard tuning). There is no tab or score for this one. If you want to sing along here are the lyrics: Here am I Who while away the mornings Since you've gone Too long have I lay alone Not knowing which way to turn. And there you are Quite sure that you were right Knowing full well That I'd be the first one To go down. And you'd be the one who was laughing Except when things were'nt going you're way Then the lady would say that she'd had enough Wandering around on her own. The day you left I think you knew you'd not be back Well at least it would seem that way Because you never said goodbye. But when it comes round to you and me I'm sure it will work out alright. And you'd be the one who was laughing Giving me something I don't need You know, I'd always hold you and keep you warm Oh! more fool me. But when it comes Round to you and me I ask myself Do I really believe In your love. Yes, I'm sure it will work out alright.

My seat wasn't close to the stage either, it was my first time in a TMB concert and I was so blown away that I didn't really pay attention to the chord positions. Yeah, I've thought about making a video with the correct tuning but it'll have to wait till I get a new 12-string.

Your way of playing it sounds great, you are a fabulous player. Looks difficult during some sections though and I have been playing 30 years. Musical Box made it look easier to play in open tuning, I couldnt follow their version all the way through, my seat wasnt close enough to the stage. I know its alot to ask but any chance you can play it and post it with the open tuning?

No, he does not use it. I had just broken the octaved-g string for the second time and didn't want to take more risks! :)

It's EADG#BE here although Mike actually plays Open E tuning, EBEG#BE.

Fantastic Pipa! A female voice singing those Collins' melodies must be very interesting. I've got other tunes but I have to work on them a little more... feeling a little lazy lately.

Ahahahaha! And completely ruin your music? I don't know about that... :) I'll have to come up with a way to record that and practice a million times before I feel confident that it works well. But I'll give it a shot! ;) Got any other Genesis songs for us? :)

Hi I like this very much. Have you ever tried to do Harlequin from Genesis. That would be awesome project. Keep playing ... you're doing well.
