Leibo07 ::: Favorites 2008-02-09 03:36:27 Well, Frank Zappa did definetely not thought that Webern, was sterile, formulaic, let alone boring... __________________________________________________
Leibo07 ::: Favorites 2008-02-09 02:53:55 You are dead wrong. There goes a direct line from the old masters to Webern. (Even much more so to HIM than to certain other composers!) It is just a token of the overall alienation of the masses, alas. __________________________________________________
davetheravekl ::: Favorites 2008-02-08 19:06:07 im not saying on a massive scale, but all that stuff would certainly be alot more accessible to the average person than this crap __________________________________________________
Leibo07 ::: Favorites 2008-02-08 17:17:20 So if Webern was shot dead at 13 instead of 63, the masses were relishing Beethoven, Liszt, Mahler, Busoni, Wagner, Hugo Wolf, Debussy,Schönberg, Bartók, and Ockeghem, Schütz, Gesualdo, Palestrina, right now, on a massive scale? No way. __________________________________________________
Leibo07 ::: Favorites 2008-02-08 16:46:17 I do not agree so much. His most unaccessible works are his later vocal and choir works. They are quite pious and very austere. There are not many (if any?) on YT. These here are his most appealing qua atmosphere and poetry, and associations. And of course the ones you mention. I like to point out that 'Entflieht' is not yet on YT either... A task? __________________________________________________ |
